Instagram is reportedly rolling out a new screenshot alert function for its Stories feature. As per TechCrunch, users who have been selected for A/B testing will now receive an alert the next time they screenshot or have their own stories screenshotted.
The new alert will appear as a camera shutter logo next to the name of the person that took the screenshot. In a statement provided to TechCrunch, Instagram noted: “We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you.”

The upcoming tests will determine if the new function will see a wide-scale rollout. If implemented, Instagram will more or less be in competition with Snapchat in regards to how it deals with screenshots.
Prior to this test, Instagram only notified users when someone took a screenshot of a private direct message. While the new update, won’t trigger a notification, Instagram users will soon be able to verify who has screenshotted their Story.
